A Tuesday Evening Visit To Coors Field, Home Of The Colorado Rockies

Last week, I was in the Denver, Colorado area for a work training assignment (ArcBest). As I typically do on work trips, I reviewed Google Maps to search for baseball fields and experiences around my hotel. My search results varied from a few college and high school fields to some area baseball complexes and of course, the Colorado Rockies stadium, Coors Field. With limited time due to my training commitments, I was only able to get to one field. So, I went big and visited the home of the Rockies, Coors Field.

With Colorado (Rockies) beginning their 2026 MLB season on the road in Miami, I wasn’t at all surprised to find Coors Field locked up. My work friend, who was kind enough to drive me to Downtown Denver, waited in the car as I hopped out and walked to where I could to get a glimpse of the stadium. Coors Field is located in a busy area of Downtown Denver, parking is limited, so I hustled out of the car to get 5 or so minutes of the exterior experience of the ballpark.

As I was walking the circumference of Coors Field, I noticed a familiar name to a restaurant/bar next to the stadium – The Sandlot. Come on, who hasn’t seen the movie “The Sandlot,” it’s a baseball classic. There was a huge baseball display on the brick walls of The Sandlot restaurant that caught my eye.

I made my way down to where the Center Field gate was and decided to turn around from there. It is possible I could have gone all the way around the outfield perimeter of the stadium, but with limited time, I didn’t want to chance it. So, I jogged up the 2 flights of stairs from the center field gate area back to the street level area.

There was a cool banner or two hanging in the street to get fans excited for the 2026 season. “Baseball At Altitude” and “Here for the Climb” hung over the main street leading to the front gates of Coors Field. The Rockies Opening Day at Coors Field is April 3rd vs. the Philadelphia Phillies. Tough matchup for sure!

Here are some additional images from my 5 to 10 minute quick trip around Coors Field:

By the way, I am fairly certain these are the actual Colorado Rockies:

It was a quick yet very satisfying trip around the perimeter of Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies. I got a ride from a co-worker, who was nice enough to wait for me just outside the front gate area of the closed ballpark. I was able to snag a few photos, read some signage, and take in one a really awesome view of the front gate area. As I stated earlier, the Colorado Rockies kicked off their 2026 MLB season in Florida vs. the Marlins and have their Opening Day coming up later this week vs. the Philadelphia Phillies. Overall, it was an awesome Denver baseball experience viewing the Colorado Rockies (mountains) and then visiting Coors Field, home of the (MLB) Colorado Rockies.
