Sharing Baseball News – Cape Cod Baseball League Historian Seeking Game Programs, yearbooks

A few of the amazing writers of SABR, the Society of American Baseball Research, reached out to me this week with a mission to enhance their already stellar Cape Cod Baseball League archives and announce a potential book project. Writer Bill Nowlin, an accomplished writer and longtime SABR contributor, is currently seeking game photos, live action photos of Cape Cod Baseball League games for the upcoming book project. And Cape Cod Baseball League historian, Mike Richard, is on a mission to create the most impressive CCBL archive for readers past and present to use as a reference. Here is more from Mike on what he is seeking:

“Over the past decade, I have been the historian of the Cape Cod Baseball League and your mention of game programs (team yearbooks?) and All-Star game programs which you found among your late Uncle Timmy’s artifacts has intrigued me. I have created a Cape Cod Baseball archive, which I use to assist folks who contact the Cape League about past history. My goal is to get a team yearbook or program from each team for every season they have produced one. I have collected quite a few Wareham yearbooks over the years, with my oldest dating back to 1972 – a small booklet that included a roster, schedule, mention of the manager Eddie Lyons and a listing of tide times as well as some ads. I am not sure if Wareham produced any roster booklets prior to 1971. Since that time, I am also in search of any similar publication, program or yearbook for the following years: 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1984. I have the 1978 booklet, as well as 1982, 1983 and everything from 1985 forward. If you have anything from the years (mentioned) that you would be willing to part with, I would greatly appreciate it as it will help me add to my league archives. I am trying my best to preserve Cape League history – even if it’s just one copy of each team’s yearbook. Thank you so much for your consideration.“
