SCABL Box Scores And Game Recaps – June 5, 2025

This week, it has been so awesome reading box scores, game recaps, and Instagram posts on summer collegiate and amateur baseball leagues (SCABL). The summer season is just starting to heat up, so stay tuned daily (hopefully daily) to my SCABL Box Scores and Game Recap posts. Here is what I am checking out online this morning for games played Thursday, June 5, 2025.

Coastal Plain League’s Peninsula Pilots with another W on this 2025 Summer Collegiate Baseball League season. The Pilots win again at home, this time against the Martinsville Mustangs. Can’t help but recognize that guy photographed below – its Nathaniel Varnier who recently pitched for local Norfolk State University.

Here are some other games from the Coastal Plain League. Due to the rain here in Southeastern Virginia and many parts of North Carolina, several games were postponed/cancelled. CPL did manage to get a number of games in and here are the results.

Quick shoutout to one of my favorite radio stations back home – MVY Radio, Martha’s Vineyard based station that you can listen to anywhere. Great mix of tunes, news, and sports – like the Cape Cod Baseball League!!!

Very busy night in the Northwoods League featuring 13 games played. Offensive explosion in the Green Bay Rockers vs. Fond du Lac Dock Spiders contest, with the Rockers rocking the bats to the tune of a 16-2 victory.

And speaking of those Rockers, local NSU standout Justin Journette had himself a night at the plate, going 4 for 6 with a triple and 4 RBIs.

Another quick shoutout to home (Rhode Island born and bred fella here) – Ocean State Waves of the New England Collegiate Baseball League will have their home opener tomorrow night at Old Mountain Field, South Kingstown. The Waves face off against the Bristol Blues. Game time is 6:30.

Rain was definitely the lead story in the Old North State League yesterday. Just 4 games played out of a possible 10. Here are the scores from the games that were played yesterday, June 5:

By the way, check out this rock star bat retrieving dog! Love the shades, dude…

From what I could tell and hear from family up in the New England area, the weather yesterday was gorgeous and very summer like. The Futures League had 3 games on the docket. Make sure you check on the box score on the Vermont Lake Monsters game – 3 pitchers combined for a 2-hitter in their 11-0 win over the Norwich Sea Unicorns. Now, here are the scores and box scores for games played Thursday, June 5.

Some game action from this week in the Sunset League, Newport. Wescott’s Gabriel Lopez tosses a 1 hit shutout against R&R Construction at historic Cardines Field, NPT. On a personal note, it is so great reading the names of so many players I used to cover back in my Rhode Island baseball days!

Another RI based NECBL team, the Newport Gulls, were on the road last night vs the Mystic Schooners. Gulls win this one, topping the Schooners by a score of 13-6.

And if you have a box score, photograph, and/or game recap from a summer collegiate or amateur baseball league game, send it to me and I will post it on my SCABL Box Scores and Recaps post.
