Nora, Radar, Rookie, and Dozier took their seats behind home plate and were absolutely loving their view. The sun was shining brightly, the home team was playing really good baseball, and the neighborhood dog friends were really having a blast together. When a pop foul sailed close to their seats, all four dogs rose to the railing to see where it landed and who caught it.
Rookie excused himself and walked over to another familiar face in the crowd, Andy the Crossing Guard from 1st and Broadway. Rookie had walked to the bus stop for many years and Andy was always so helpful and protective of the kids heading to school and dog parents crossing the street to the Astor Park. Nora, Radar, and Dozier remained in the seats, sitting tall, and having a really nice time together.

During a break in the game action, Nora joined Rookie and chatting it up with Andy. As Nora and Andy were sharing a funny story about a squirrel, Rookie turned to his neighborhood dog row and noticed a few small dogs struggling to get any kind of view of the field. Rookie yelped, “hey guys, I’m Rookie, would you like my friends and I to move so you can see the game better?” The two small dogs, Piper and Cobalt, barked a friendly “sure” to their new friend, Rookie.
Dozier, after hearing Rookie and looking behind him to see Piper and Cobalt, moved to the end of the row. Radar’s Mom, Sugar, barked to Rookie, “Rook, that was so nice. Hi y’all, I’m Sugar, nice to meet you two. We will make room, right boys?” Looking at Radar and Dozier, both neighborhood dogs nodded and panted in agreement. Just as the neighborhood friends moved to give Piper and Cobalt a better view of the game, a towering home run was hit and everyone got to see it sail out of the ballpark and then celebrate.

Cobalt turned to Piper, “see I told you these guys were cool.” Piper barked back to Cobalt, “yeah, they were just big dudes and I figured wrong about them. They really are friendly pups and I am so glad we met them. Thanks Rookie, Dozier, Miss Sugar, and Radar.” The two rows of dogs barked the loudest home run cheers in the entire baseball park.
The neighborhood pups and their new friends, Piper and Cobalt, exchanged stories about baseball, the local parks, the beach, and their dog parents. Piper and Cobalt lived in the next town over from Rookie and his dog pals and this was their second Bark in the Park event. They mentioned to Radar and Sugar that their first game was hard to watch because of large dogs in front of them. The big dogs ignored their request to move and they were very intimidated by them. They were so glad that this game had new friends in the row in front of them.

Just as the 5th inning was rolling on and the dog stories were getting funnier, Jasper came by with a fresh box of pupsicles. “One for every pup in the house, a friendly cup of ice cream between friends, hey, there is nothing like it, am I right?” laughed Jasper. Piper and Cobalt got right into their pupsicles, while Rookie, Radar, and Miss Sugar yelled over to Dozier and Nora to come and get their treat. Rookie loved that he made some new friends and was truly having one of the best nights of his dog life at the ballpark.
