Rookie the Weimaraner found a seat along the third base line of Ceremonial Park and stared out into the beauty of the baseball field. Tonight was Rookie’s first live baseball game, a Bark in the Park event where dogs are allowed entry into the game. Rookie had been watching baseball on TV for a number of years and was so excited to finally see a game up close and personal.
Rookie was psyched to see his neighborhood pal, Radar the German Shepherd, had also made it to the game. “Hey Radar, sit with me. I got a great view of the field,” barked Rookie. “This is your first game, right Rook?” woofed Radar as he found a seat one row up from Rookie. “Yes,” barked Rookie, “and I so excited to catch a baseball, I have been practicing for years with tennis balls and frisbees for this moment.” Radar woofed a little and barked back, “Rookie, the baseballs don’t always come in the stands. Wait, Rookie!!! Here comes a foul ball!!!”

Rookie’s amazing fetching instincts took over and he leapt from his seat and snagged a foul ball right out of the afternoon sky. Fans in his section, Radar, and soon the entire crowd at Ceremonial Park were raising their hands and cheering for Rookie. Rookie couldn’t have been happier at his first Bark in the Park event. “Nice catch ole buddy,” barked Radar. “Thanks Radar, I’m so glad I didn’t miss this one,” woofed Rookie. Just then, Rookie and Radar’s pal Jasper the Golden Retriever showed up with a ton of food.

For those of us lagging behind a bit on AI and Copilot and technology, I feel your pain. However, if you have the imagination and can’t do the drawings or the cartooning or create the images themselves, technology can be a really, really useful tool. I started this project with this image below. It is a near replica of my dog, Rookie the Weimaraner, who loves fetching and catching tennis balls, frisbees, and sometimes baseballs. From there, I just “worked” with Copilot on imaging and clarification of images and backgrounds to create what you see above. And I am hoping to work alongside Copilot to create a really cool experience, the Baseball Rookie experience, who along with my other Weim, Nora, will be attending Bark in the Park events and meeting new friends and eating hot dogs and maybe catching a few more foul balls with their doggie friends. Stay tuned.
