Amazing turnout for today’s Wickford and North Kingstown American Little League Opening Day Parade. Teams, coaches, volunteers, and families watched and cheered as the Wickford and North Kingstown Little Leagues marched together. Kids of all ages braved the chilly conditions as they marched from Wickford Middle School, through Wickford Village and ended up at Wilson Park. T-ball, Single A, AA, AAA, and Majors division teams lined up together. Presidents Arnie Sarazen and Todd Mascena said a few words to the crowd. Since 1948, The Jimmy Fund has raised millions of dollars in support of the Dana Farber Institute in Boston. Hundreds of local and national organizations, golf tournaments, road races, and local bake sales have helped raise money for this worthy charity. It is the official charity of the Boston Red Sox. Back in early November, a number of teens, parents, and musicians gathered at the Cold Spring Community Center. The theme of the night was to promote the talented youth musicians located right here in North Kingstown and to raise money for a great local charity – The North Kingstown Special Olympics. Teens sang, played guitar, laughed, and cheered for one and other in the 2 hour event hosted by the North Kingstown Marketing Company.
