Opening Day for Wickford and North Kingstown American Little League a Huge Success

Amazing turnout for today’s Wickford and North Kingstown American Little League Opening Day Parade.  Teams, coaches, volunteers, and families watched and cheered as the Wickford and North Kingstown Little Leagues marched together.  Kids of all ages braved the chilly conditions as they marched from Wickford Middle School, through Wickford Village and ended up at Wilson Park.  T-ball, Single A, AA, AAA, and Majors division teams lined up together.  Presidents Arnie Sarazen and Todd Mascena said a few words to the crowd. NK High School Senior Sara Barker’s Rally for the Jimmy Fund

2nd NK Teen Open Mic Night To Benefit Pennies For Patients Charity

Back in early November, a number of teens, parents, and musicians gathered at the Cold Spring Community Center.  The theme of the night was to promote the talented youth musicians located right here in North Kingstown and to raise money for a great local charity – The North Kingstown Special Olympics.  Teens sang, played guitar, laughed, and cheered for one and other in the 2 hour event hosted by the North Kingstown Marketing Company.  After a very successful and fun night, the total donation amount came to $205.50, which was then presented to the North Kingstown Special Olympics.  It was … Continue reading 2nd NK Teen Open Mic Night To Benefit Pennies For Patients Charity

Hidden Figures – A Must See Biopic on the American Dream

The challenge every biopic film has is mixing fact with Hollywood’s influence.  A biopic film is based on actual events, recent or historical, which give depth to the story through interesting dialogue and sometimes sensationalism of these events.  It is the filmmaker’s task to educate the audience, whether they were alive during the events or not, as well as entertain the audience.  Otherwise, it feels more like a movie you watch in high school for your US or World History class.  And if I can recall, those were certainly educational but not too entertaining.
