NK High School Senior Sara Barker’s Rally for the Jimmy Fund

2nd NK Teen Open Mic Night To Benefit Pennies For Patients Charity

Back in early November, a number of teens, parents, and musicians gathered at the Cold Spring Community Center.  The theme of the night was to promote the talented youth musicians located right here in North Kingstown and to raise money for a great local charity – The North Kingstown Special Olympics.  Teens sang, played guitar, laughed, and cheered for one and other in the 2 hour event hosted by the North Kingstown Marketing Company.  After a very successful and fun night, the total donation amount came to $205.50, which was then presented to the North Kingstown Special Olympics.  It was … Continue reading 2nd NK Teen Open Mic Night To Benefit Pennies For Patients Charity

The North Kingstown Food Pantry Thanks Its Volunteers at 2nd Annual Volunteer Appreciation Day

The North Kingstown Food Pantry celebrated their 2nd Annual Volunteer Appreciation Day with a cook-out at the Little Red School House. About 50 volunteers and their families showed up to enjoy hamburgers and hotdogs provided by the Pantry Board of Directors. The Food Pantry is operated entirely by unpaid volunteers and one part-time staff coordinator. Volunteers log hundreds of hours each month with client service, sorting food, stocking shelfs, clerical work, grant writing, fund raising and maintenance. While many of the volunteers sign up as individuals, some are husband and wife teams or mom and kids teams.
