“Night of Jazz” hosted byCurtis Corner Middle School

This Monday, March 30th, four local middle schools, including Wickford Middle School, will be participating in a “Night of Jazz” at the Curtis Corner Middle School.  I am really looking forward to hearing the performers, especially my son who will be performing under the instruction of Michael Iadevaia for Wickford Middle School.  It should be an amazing night of music for the kids and parents of these talented musicians. Quoting the immortal Lou Reed “One chord is fine. Two chords are pushing it. Three chords and you’re into jazz.” Wickford Middle School recognizes the unique developmental characteristics of the middle … Continue reading “Night of Jazz” hosted byCurtis Corner Middle School

Sears Hometown Store – Big Time Inventory, Big Time Customer Service

I admit I do a lot of shopping online.   The convenience of e-commerce is incredible.  You can buy just about anything online, have price comparisons, and have the item shipped right to your home or business. This is such a great modern convenience that e-commerce sites afford us, the busy consumer.  A lot of e-commerce sites have a retail store associated with them, so customers can not only shop online but also in person.  Sears is one of the nation’s most successful example of a retail store which is enhanced by an online presence. Now, in North Kingstown, the Sears tradition … Continue reading Sears Hometown Store – Big Time Inventory, Big Time Customer Service

Powell Custom Drums – Passionately Designed by Drummers for Drummers

In the busy world of manufacturing, you can take one of several different paths to success.  One is to mass produce an item – find cheap materials, cheap labor to keep costs low; thereby keeping the retail price low and hope that you sell a ton of products to make it all worth while.  Another way is much harder to do, typically takes longer to achieve success, and can be more frustrating for not only you, your co-workers, but also your family.  But, in the true spirit of craftsmanship, personalization, creating something so important to you as an artist, you … Continue reading Powell Custom Drums – Passionately Designed by Drummers for Drummers

McKay’s Furniture Showcases Functionality and Art with My Mez

-with Julia McKay, of McKay’s furniture One of the pages I like on Facebook is local furniture design center McKay’s Furniture.  Our families have been friends for years and I look forward to posts about the McKay’s – both professionally and personally. A My Mez product can be a table or tray.  It … Continue reading McKay’s Furniture Showcases Functionality and Art with My Mez

Spring is Here and Wickford Little League Baseball is Near

Spring is a mere 8 hours away and I can’t help but think of baseball.  I have been involved with baseball my entire life as a player, coach, and fan.  My experience with Wickford Little League helped develop my skills as a player and I was lucky enough to play not only in high school but in college as well.  My experience as a fan watching my sons play has no shortage of emotions and I am so proud of their accomplishments as young athletes. Wickford Little League has a Facebook page with upcoming events, registration information, photos, and much … Continue reading Spring is Here and Wickford Little League Baseball is Near
