The NK Blog Welcomes Pilates Stance to the NK Chamber of Commerce

The North Kingstown Blog welcomes to the North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce – Pilates Stance. Being in the health and fitness industry for over 20 years, I had the opportunity to try out many different strength machines and exercise programs. Starting with Nautilus strength equipment in the early 1990’s to the modern day strength systems I see at my local YMCA, fitness professionals understand that strength training is a very important aspect of physical fitness training.  Recent trends have shifted the focus of strength training to developing your core muscles – those muscles found in the abdominal area, lower back, … Continue reading The NK Blog Welcomes Pilates Stance to the NK Chamber of Commerce

A Number of Large Scale Artists to Showcase Their Art at the 53rd Annual Wickford Art Festival

The North Kingstown Blog is pleased to help promote the 53rd Annual Wickford Art Festival. I asked Festival Director, Judy Salvadore, about this year’s festival committee choices and some of the artists that would be showcasing their amazing talents in Wickford Village this July. Who are the artists coming this year that have drawn the most interest in the festival committee? We love all of our artists so I wouldn’t want to say that we have “favorites”. This year, the Jury Committee was very interested in artists that work on a large scale and the artists below are big (as in size of … Continue reading A Number of Large Scale Artists to Showcase Their Art at the 53rd Annual Wickford Art Festival

The NK Blog Welcomes Dr. Lauren Hedde and Direct Doctors to the NK Chamber of Commerce

Throughout my life, I have been a very accident prone individual.  Thus, I have spent a lot of time in doctor’s offices to treat not only acute injuries but also the subsequent follow up appointments.  What always struck me, even when I was younger, was the amount of time you waited to be seen, as opposed to the actual time you were seen by the doctor.  If I was a patient in a very busy practice, the wait times were in the hours some days.  That’s a long time for a kid to have to wait to then be told, “Everything looks … Continue reading The NK Blog Welcomes Dr. Lauren Hedde and Direct Doctors to the NK Chamber of Commerce

The Next Stop on My Golf Odyssey I Call “Finding my Swing” – The North Kingstown Golf Course

Armed with my lessons from neighbor and golf expert, Ian Manning from Orthocore PT, I continued my golfing tour of North Kingstown at the North Kingstown Golf Course.  It was the Friday prior to Memorial Day and the weather conditions were absolutely ideal for golf.  The place was mobbed and I was thrilled that an open spot on the back nine was available.  I grabbed my clubs, laced up my shoes, did some thoracic stretches, and teed off. I have played the North Kingstown Golf Course front nine a few times but not the back nine.  I was relieved to … Continue reading The Next Stop on My Golf Odyssey I Call “Finding my Swing” – The North Kingstown Golf Course

North Kingstown Recreation Department Summer Program – Tennis and Coach Cristelle Fox

Every summer up until high school, I took tennis lessons with the Town of North Kingstown.  It was part of a busy summer of recreation my brother, sister, and I participated in.  The tennis courts at the North Kingstown High School was where you could find me, some time after swimming lessons, and just before creative writing at the NK Town Library.  I was (and remain) a huge fan of the sport and still watch most of the major championships on TV.  It is a sport that combines athleticism with hand-eye coordination and it helped me develop athletically for both high … Continue reading North Kingstown Recreation Department Summer Program – Tennis and Coach Cristelle Fox
