The Gym Store Donates Customized Exercise Bike To The Lupus Foundation

For the past decade, I have been lucky to work with incredible visionaries and talented companies in the pre-owned fitness equipment industry.  There are companies that can take a rusted, non-functioning piece of equipment and make it look incredible and run like new.  The re-manufacturing or reconditioning process takes time but the results are very satisfied customers.  Someone with a background in design, fixing exercise equipment, and a little bit of showmanship can really stand apart from this crowded pack of fitness equipment suppliers. One of the best and brightest individuals is my friend Chris Kelly of The Gym Store. I … Continue reading The Gym Store Donates Customized Exercise Bike To The Lupus Foundation

Living in New England, we are blessed to have so many incredible resources for medical care. Boston, MA has consistently been one of the top areas in not only New England but the entire country when it comes to top medical facilities. And Boston Children’s Hospital is one of the best hospitals for care for children in need of medical care. My family and I should know. I spent a good part of my childhood battling bone disorders in my lower legs with the help of a team of doctors at Boston Children’s Hospital. Rhode Island Power Yoga Helps Local Student’s Senior Project

Rhode Island Power Yoga (RIPY for short) is going to be hosting a charity event for North Kingstown High School senior Ryan O’Donnell’s senior project on Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness.  I was interested to learn more about the yoga studio and their involvement with the charity event.  I recently stopped by Rhode Island Power Yoga’s studio here in North Kingstown and spoke with one of the owners, Renee Deslauriers. “His sisters (meaning Ryan’s sisters) come to the studio,” mentioned Renee when I asked about the connection between RIPY and Ryan.  “They have been asking Ryan to come into the studio to … Continue reading Rhode Island Power Yoga Helps Local Student’s Senior Project

Ryan O’Donnell’s Charity Yoga Event To Raise Awareness of Pulmonary Fibrosis

One of the great rewards of writing about North Kingstown is getting to know its talented community members.  Some of our community members have owned businesses for years, while others contribute by volunteering their time with a worthy charity.  And in the past year, I have gotten to know some of our very talented youth from North Kingstown High School.  It has been a great honor to help support and promote the efforts of the senior class of North Kingstown High School and their very important senior projects. The latest community member that I would like to introduce you to is … Continue reading Ryan O’Donnell’s Charity Yoga Event To Raise Awareness of Pulmonary Fibrosis

Off Season Baseball Tips From Matt Finlayson of Ocean State Waves

In my quest to learn more about off season baseball conditioning and activities, I connected with local friend and Ocean State Waves President/GM, Matt Finlayson.  Matt and the Ocean State Waves are hosting their 4th Annual Black Tie and Jeans fundraiser event to benefit the Waves and their extended baseball families. Here is Matt on off season workouts for our youth baseball rising stars: The difficult part about baseball in the Northeast is that we do not have all year to train outside so we are forced to come up with ways to prepare inside during the winter.  Splitting cage time … Continue reading Off Season Baseball Tips From Matt Finlayson of Ocean State Waves

K Performance Baseball – Mark Cahill, Batting Cages, And Proven Results

I was first introduced to Mark Cahill when my oldest son, Spencer, took part in a developmental fall baseball program about 7 years ago.  Cahill, a local baseball instructor and former minor league pitcher, ran a program at Wilson Park helping young players on the basics of hitting, pitching, and fielding.  At the time, I had no idea how extensive Mark’s background was in baseball.  I was just grateful that Wickford Little League had a fall clinic to help develop player’s skills and fundamentals. As the press agent for Wickford Little League, I am constantly educating myself on local resources for … Continue reading K Performance Baseball – Mark Cahill, Batting Cages, And Proven Results

North Kingstown’s Chad Mansolillo Senior Project To Benefit RBI Program

Two of my favorite subjects to write about are baseball and the good deeds of North Kingstown residents, especially the youth of NK.  As the press agent for Wickford Little League, I love hearing about ball players (past and present) who are not only continuing with baseball, but also serving their community through volunteerism and charitable giving.  Recently, I was notified about the senior project of a former Wickford Little League star, who went on to become a star not only at the middle school level but continues to impress at the high school level.  His name is Chad Mansolillo and … Continue reading North Kingstown’s Chad Mansolillo Senior Project To Benefit RBI Program

Getting Ready for Wickford Little League Using the Hit-A-Way® Station

Opening Day for the 2017 Wickford Little League season is just a few short months away.  Yes, I know, it is January 1st.  Yes, I know the temperature outside is hovering around 30 degrees.  Yes, most of us are still in football or basketball or indoor track mode.  However, there is no shame is working on baseball skills during these off season months.  You have heard all the quotes – “Practice makes perfect,” or “The best athlete is made in the off season,” or “Baseball withdrawal is real.” For the next few months, I will be introducing training aids, talking … Continue reading Getting Ready for Wickford Little League Using the Hit-A-Way® Station

Jam Stage – Plug In, Tap The Microphone, And Record Your Music

For the past few years, my basement has served as a pseudo recording studio for the musician in my house, namely my son Spencer.  We have a drum kit, guitars, amplifiers, microphones, and harmonicas set up in the basement. When the music is playing, he is not only entertaining those in the house, but most likely the neighbors surrounding me.  This past fall, one of my neighbors recognized a song my son was playing on the drums. And he lives 3 houses down the lane.  Needless to say, it gets pretty loud.  Bonus is my son is a very good … Continue reading Jam Stage – Plug In, Tap The Microphone, And Record Your Music
