A Month Long Journey Is Realized On A Thrilling Morning’s Ride

Letter to the Editor: When congress passed the Local Community Radio Act, it brought about one of the biggest opportunities in U.S. history for nonprofits and community organizations to affordably access the air waves. In the capitol city, Providence Community Radio will be launching shortly on 101.1 FM. Nonprofits have the chance to apply for a non-commercial FM radio license, or LPFM. One thing I have learned in all of my years watching Major League playoff baseball is that anything can happen.  Rosters stacked with talent somehow lose to rosters stacked with rookies.  A pitching juggernaut during the regular season turns into a batting practice failure in the playoffs.  The intensity, the lights, the interviews, the crowds, everything is amplified in the playoffs leading up to the World Series.  Who will win the trophy this year?  I’m confident of one thing – my Boston Red Sox will not. Baseball – A Fan’s Perspective

I finished up my 2015 baseball season yesterday with my youngest son and his Wickford Little League teammates.  Our team has been up and down this season but we finished with a strong performance yesterday.  Down by 2 runs with one last at bat, we came back with 4 runs to overtake our opponent, then my son closed it out with 3 strikeouts to end the game and secure a win for Wickford Little League.  It was a true team effort, with everyone contributing hits, defense, pitching and above all, enthusiasm for the game of baseball.   And, with just … Continue reading Baseball – A Fan’s Perspective

Congratulations David Ortiz, Red Sox Fans Salute Your 500th Home Run and Career

David Ortiz hit his 500 (regular season) home run last night against Matt Moore of the Tampa Bay Rays, becoming the 27th player in Major League Baseball to accomplish that feat.
