Women’s Pro Baseball League Inaugural Player Draft – Who Went Where And What’s Next

Yesterday, November 20th, the Women’s Pro Baseball League took another step in their league’s evolution – the player draft. The WPBL had previously selected four cities which will serve as the inaugural first four of the Women’s Pro Baseball League – San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston, and New York. Filling the rosters with quality players was the next logical step in the process and that took place last night with 6 rounds of the inaugural WPBL Player Draft. Few players to note – going 1/1 was Kelsie Whitmore, no big surprise there to anyone in the know. Former Hampton University softball star Mo’ne Davis takes her baseball talents to the Los Angeles club. And recent Coastal Plain League Holly Springs Salamanders C Alexia Jorge goes from the Carolinas to San Francisco. According to various WPBL sites, the inaugural season will kick off in August of 2026 and will take place at the Robin Roberts Stadium, Springfield, Illinois.
