The 8th Annual Cardines Classic Army-Navy Baseball Game, hosted by the U.S. Naval War College in beautiful Newport, Rhode Island is scheduled for this October. The Cardines Classic is by far one of my favorite Rhode Island baseball events to attend, cover, and promote. It features students from the Naval College in an Army vs. Navy baseball game at historic Cardines Field, just miles from the famous school. Yes, they play real baseball and the play on the field is actually quite good. From the USNWC event’s page, “Join us for this free baseball game that will be played by students from the U.S. Naval War College dressed in period-accurate uniforms.” The stands at Cardines Field are packed with enthusiastic fans of the game, supportive family members, and distinguished members and staff of the U.S. Naval War College.
