SCABL Box Scores And Game Recaps – Let’s Put A Bow On This One

Okay, we are now just about finished with the summer collegiate and amateur baseball league (SCABL) season for 2025. Recent championships have been completed, champions have been crowned, and teams are already planning for the 2026 summer league season. So, let’s put a bow on the 2025 season with a few announcements and acknowledgments and some choice moments from my summer baseball experiences.

Congratulations to the Norwich Sea Unicorns of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. The Sea Unicorns defeated the New Britain Bees to capture the 2025 FCBL Championship. Congrats to the Norwich Sea Unicorns players, coaches, interns, and families on an amazing 2025 season.

Congratulations to the Bourne Braves, winners of the 2025 Cape Cod Baseball League Championship. The Braves bested the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox to win the coveted CCBL title. Bourne really took it to YD, winning the series 2-0, including a game clinching 19-2 victory in Game 2. Wow, what a season for the Bourne bunch. Congrats to all the players, coaches, interns, and families.

The South Shore Clippers are the 2025 Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League champions. The Clippers clipped the North Fork Ospreys, winning both championship games on their way to the 2025 title. Congrats to all the players, coaches, interns, and families. Great tradition of baseball there in the Hamptons!

The NABA – Richmond Championship goes to the Tappahannock Tides. The Tides swept the championship series 2-0 over the El Heaters. Games were played at James Floyd HS and at Richmond’s historic (and soon to be demolished) The Diamond Stadium. Here is an IG video recap from game 1 and the champions photo of the team after Game 2:

The George Donnelly Sunset League season is coming to an end, with 2 team remaining in the 2025 playoffs – Mudville and Westcott. Here is the GDSL YouTube page with the complete game win (spoiler alert Wescott wins Game 1 6-3 over Mudville). Game 2 is tonight (08/19) at historic Cardines Field, Newport. Game 3, the “if” game, is scheduled for tomorrow August 20th. Good luck to all the players, coaches, and families participating in this year’s George Donnelly Sunset League championship series.

So, what are my fondest memories from the 2025 Summer Collegiate and Amateur Baseball League (SCABL) season? Here are a few that really stood out for me. I got out to a bunch of games locally here in Virginia as well as on business trips throughout the country. I saw some great baseball, attended some legendary baseball parks, and met some incredible fans in the process. It was an awesome 2025 SCABL season.

Going to Joliet, seeing the Joliet Slammers, and meeting Mike Veeck and his son Night Train, that was incredible through and through.

My first trip to Kill Devil Hills, the Outer Banks to watch the Outer Banks Flying Dutchmen at First Flight Baseball Park was amazing. I loved the logo, the uniforms, and the whole OBX baseball experience.

Hicks Field, home of the Edenton Steamers, is one of the coolest baseball parks I have visited in 2025. The park had such character and the fans attending the game were really into their Steamers. Definitely set up for a return trip in 2026!

This kid, Grayson Fitzwater, really entertained the Hampton crowd at historic War Memorial Stadium, home of the Peninsula Pilots. Fitzwater was a fantastic player on the field, and a great rain delay entertainer to boot. Bright future for this Pilot for sure.

Here is a photo gallery of some more memories from games I attended, stadiums I toured, and baseball experiences I will cherish for a lifetime.

Good luck in school, good luck in business, good luck in life – wherever you are all off to, I wish everyone involved in SCABL baseball the very best. See you all in 2026!!!
