Full disclosure – For years, I have attended Major League and Minor League Baseball games having purchased a ticket to the game, and never once sat in the seat I purchased. I’m not alone, a lot of fans buy tickets to games in the “nosebleed” sections of stadiums and simply seat jump or stand in the concession stands or find a spot in an outfield grassy area. Many stadiums offer general admission seating, with standing room only designated areas, grassy areas for families, perhaps even bleacher seating spread out throughout the stadium. I know when I used to take my sons to Pawtucket’s McCoy Stadium, we always purchased general admission tickets, and we moved around the park freely from seat to seat and space to space. And it was awesome!!!
Well, I am so happy to have found a legit game changing pass for all of us SRO, General Admission, wandering media types at MLB and MILB games. It is called the Ballpark Pass and I absolutely love this concept. Many MLB teams have it in place. Many MILB teams are trying it out. What is it and why is such a gamechanger for the wandering baseball fan? Here are some of the details on the MLB Ballpark Pass for April for the Boston Red Sox:

Now here is a current one for the Pittsburgh Pirates:

Want to see a St. Louis Cardinals game with a SRO, GA type ticket all summer? Check out their Ballpark Pass:

And the Minor Leagues are getting in on the Ballpark Pass idea. Check out this page from the Boston Red Sox AA Affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs:

I love the pricing, I love the message it sends, I love this concept. Tickets to MLB games are outrageously expensive for families. Sure, you can use 3rd party apps to find seats and most have tremendous deals. This Ballpark Pass allows you to the freedom to enter the ballpark, sit/stand in a million places throughout the park (just not in a ticketed seat) and see the game from a million views. It is the ultimate general admission baseball fan’s ticket. Plus, there are tons of ticket upgrades that you can take advantage of through the MLB and MILB Ballpark App. This MLB and MILB Ballpark Pass option is the way to go if you love baseball, don’t want to sit in one seat or section the entire game, and want to explore the stadium and see the game from different angles and views. And it is great for media people like myself that want to capture the experience of the game from all those great angles and views. Highly recommended!!!

To see if your MLB or MILB team offers a Ballpark Pass, go to your team’s MLB or MILB website and search the “tickets” tab. It may be under “specials” or “ballpark pass” or you may have to inquire with your team’s ticket office.
