Happy July 4th week everyone. Summer baseball events, games, all-star announcements are all buzzing this week as we kick off an uber-packed month of baseball. Leagues from Maine to Minnesota are planning July 4th events and I can’t wait to see all the great entertainment options for fans and families. Mix in summer camps, prospect camps, and USA Baseball games – wow July is going to be an amazing month for baseball. Here are a few stories I am following today, July 2nd.
If I decide to stay local, which is a pretty good possibility with the travel schedules of 19 million others flooding the highways of our great country, here is one game I will likely attend. Tidewater Summer League’s Greenbrier Knights vs. VB (Virginia Beach) Valor at First Colonial HS. I can hit the game, then hit the beach right after. Win, win.
Here are your Coastal Plain League East Division All-Stars:
And the Coastal Plain League West Division All-Stars:
Speaking of All-Stars, this is huge news here in Hampton Roads. Norfolk State University All-Everything Justin Journette, who recently entered the transfer portal, has decided to come back to NSU for a 4th season. Great news indeed, what a talent!
Great post from the Ocean State Waves of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Host families are awesome. I know a ton of them from back in my Rhode Island days. They are some of the coolest folks around. And if I had to guess, that is Old Mountain Lanes, which is directly across from the Waves home field – Old Mountain Field, South Kingstown/Wakefield, RI.
Shout out to all the media interns working the sidelines, getting the scoop from players pre and post game, and representing their brand with professionalism. Here is an example from the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Wareham Gatemen reporter Rayna Maggelet:
And speaking of the Cape Cod Baseball League, a select few were chosen to participate in a CCBL vs. MLB Draft League game at NY’s Citi Field, home of the NY Mets.
Here is the roster who participated.
Old North State League, fresh off their All-Star Weekend, got back into it on Monday this week. Here the scores from Monday’s busy schedule.
Lights, camera, action – NABA – Richmond is chock full of games for today and this week. Check out their latest IG post for today’s schedule of games.
And here are your NABA – Richmond strikeout leaders for games up to June 30th:
If you are old enough to remember the Nirvana album cover, then we have something in common. Check out the latest Madison Mallards (Northwoods League) promo. Love it, cue the drum beat, and somebody find my flannel shirt!
How rewarding is this? The Peninsula Pilots of the Coastal Plain League teaming up with the local Challenger Division of Little League baseball. These kids and families, and Pilot players, will never forget the special moments and memories created by this event. Great job Pilots organization for hosting and participating in something so much bigger than baseball. Amazing stuff here!!!
I missed the post on this event last week but just wanted to share that the police and fire department games are always really fun. These men and women put their lives on the line for their communities every day. And events like this are a great way to destress and connect with the community. Awesome idea and I hope it went well.
Checking in on the Newport Gulls of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Busy week of games, including another round in the Pell Series vs. cross bridge rivals Ocean State Waves at home, historic Cardines Field, NPT.
Here are some game scores from yesterday’s Futures Collegiate League games. I am psyched that they got the games in because, according to my son, it was raining and stormy yesterday night. Not surprised the New Britain Bees (CT) got postponed, there was a T-storm warning for CT, MA, and RI yesterday afternoon.

And if you are in these areas, support these local FCL teams this week. Tons of great games all week, including July 4th!

And finally, heading up north to check in on the Niagara Falls Americans, who are gearing up for a July 4th bash at Sal Maglie Stadium, just south of the iconic Niagara Falls area.
And as always, if you have photos, game recaps, or any summer collegiate and/or amateur baseball league news, let me know and I will share it on my blog and my social media pages.
