SCABL Box Scores And Game Recaps – Mallards No-Hitter, Brown University, College World Series

Summer Collegiate And Amateur Baseball League (SCABL) season is in full swing all over the USA. With fans piling into packed baseball parks, fields, and stadiums there is a ton of excitement and energy throughout the SCABL network of teams and leagues. Have you been to an awesome game this summer and have a cool story? If so, send it to me via the contact form at the end of this blog. I’d love to hear about it. Here are some of the SCABL stories, game recaps, and box scores I have been following over the past few days:

Congratulations to the Madison Mallards (Northwoods League) Isaac Milburn who threw a no-hitter at the Duck Pond last night. Milburn, out of Purdue University, was 2 walks away from a perfect game facing just 29 total batters in the game. Mallards edged the Green Bay Rockers 1-0 in front of nearly 6,000 fans. Wow, what a night for the Mallards!!!

All Star game coming up in the Old North State League. This year, the game will be hosted by the Jacksonville Ospreys at Jack Amyette Park, Jacksonville, North Carolina. See IG posts below for more information:

And here is the roster of today’s games in the Old North State League:

Rachel and I took in the Peninsula Pilots vs. Wilson Tobs game at historic War Memorial Stadium, Hampton on Friday night. It was 60s theme night, a rivalry game, in the 80s temperature wise, and an absolutely gorgeous night for baseball. Here are a few photos from our time at the game. Pilots ended up winning the game as well, 10-8.

Here are some scores from last night’s Coastal Plain League games via their IG page:

New England Collegiate Baseball League scores from Friday and Saturday. Keene SwampBats continue to pace the field in the North Division at 12-2. Newport Gulls and Bristol Blues are neck and neck atop the Southern Division at 9-6. Still too early to call, so make sure you head out and support your local NECBL teams today/tonight/tomorrow/all summer!!!

Brown University (Providence, RI) has a new Men’s Baseball Head Coach. Frank Holbrook, formerly of Rhode Island College and the Newport Gulls of the NECBL, and more recently Northeastern University, has taken over the helm of the Brown Bears Baseball club. Congrats to Frank, I have known him for a few years now covering RI baseball. Great baseball guy, former P himself.

Wow, Spillane Stadium looks amazing. I had the privilege of attending several Cape Cod Baseball League game there. And my mom and her siblings attended high school there. Pretty cool place in my family’s history.

Here are Friday and Saturday scores from the Futures League. Great to see all games were played, many very competitive contests.

And if you misses yesterday’s Game 1 of the College Baseball World Series, you missed a tremendous pitcher’s duel. LSU had just enough offense to best Coastal Carolina 1-0. What an intense game for only 1 run worth of offense. Game 2 is today and could produce a National Championship for LSU. Or it could re-affirm the destiny of Coastal Carolina, who has beaten the odds time after time. Game time is this afternoon at 2:30EST, live from Omaha, Nebraska.
