Today, June 20th, is the first official day of Summer. It feels like Summer has been happening for about 30 days or so in the summer collegiate and amateur baseball league world. And now that NCAA tournament fields are settled or narrowed to 2 teams, many collegiate student athletes are reporting to their summer baseball destinations all over the USA. With so many leagues to cover, how does one do it? Instagram, X, League Websites, and a bit of luck I suppose. Here are some of the summer collegiate and amateur baseball league (SCABL) news, schedules, box scores, and game recaps I am following as the week ends, June 20th, the first day of Summer, 2025:
The Hampton Collegiate Baseball League is a summer collegiate wood bat league based on the beautiful tail end of Long Island, NY – more commonly known as the Hamptons. The Hamptons offer some of the most stunning beaches, villages, small town communities, and host some of the best local NY, CT, RI and national collegiate baseball talent every summer. I had a chance to attend a game on Shelter Island a few years back and it was awesome. Fun fact – my childhood hero Carl Yaz grew up playing on some of the fields used in the Hamptons League. Here is a post from yesterday’s Montauk Classic, held at the Montauk School.
And it looks like the game ended up being a historic one, as Sag Harbor’s Trey Zaffiro tossed a no-hitter in the game. Awesome!

I really love the Peninsula Pilots social media stuff, especially on IG. The staff does a great job introducing Pilots players, game schedules, events, and happenings to all of Hampton Roads and beyond. Definitely psyched to have them so close to me, just a bridge/tunnel away in Hampton.
And you know I have to get one of these NABA Richmond posts in whenever I can. The NABA team does an incredible job on social media and I can’t wait to make the short trip up to the Richmond area this summer for some NABA game action. Love the game previews, awesome writing.
This is a very cool post by the Cape Cod Baseball League group. 10 reasons why you should attend a CCBL game this summer. My favorite memory of the Cape Cod League was running into my Uncle Timmy one night at a Wareham Gatemen game at Spillane Stadium. He just popped into the row I was sitting in (with Rachel) and said “Hey Noel, what’s up dude?” and sat down. He was so random and awesome and I miss him dearly.
Jam packed Thursday night roster of games played in the Coastal Plain League. Summer bats are heating up, as the scores are going up and up and up weekly. It’s time for those summer arms on the mound to show them who is boss! The Coastal Plain League continues today and this weekend with a huge schedule of games, so head out to your local CPL stadium to support your team!
The Old North State League IG page has a few posts displaying current standings. Here is a snip from their official website, http://www.oldnorthstateleague.com, showing all the teams, divisions, and records.
Shout out to all the sideline reporters, many of them students and student athletes themselves, who work the games along with the players. Here is a post featuring Alec Beane of the Ocean State Waves interviewing DH/C, Bryant University and former Bishop Hendricken High School multi year, multi sport Gatorade Player of the Year winner (football, baseball) Brandyn Durand.
And another one here, featuring the Niagara Falls Americans and that other national pastime during the summer months – consuming ridiculous amounts of hot dogs.
3 games on the schedule, 3 games played Thursday night in the highly competitive Futures Collegiate League.

And here are your standings in the Futures League after just under 20 games into the 2025 season. Looks like Worcester and Vermont are setting the pace with 12 wins each. Still plenty of baseball to be played this summer, so make sure you head out and catch a Futures League game near you.

It is always fun, even for just a few innings, to catch the George Donnelly Sunset League on their YouTube channel. The camera is set up right behind home plate, so you can see the game from where scouts normally sit. Cool view of one of the most iconic fields in all of baseball – Cardines Field, Newport, Rhode Island.
And as always, if you have a photo, a game recap, a box score, or an interesting story from your summer collegiate and/or amateur baseball league (SCABL), send it my way. I am happy to post and promote your team, your player, your league.
