SCABL Box Scores And Recaps – OBX, Fenway Road Trips, Roby On The Mound

Summer road trips are about as traditional as summer baseball. Families pack into cars with kids and pets and coolers and good intentions and hit the roads of the USA in search of lakes, beaches, recreation, and perhaps a baseball game or two. For me growing up, our summer road trip was always Maine, Bar Harbor to be exact. Fun times in a station wagon with no AC, aaahh those were the days. Fast forward to 2025 where families and baseball teams are still making those awesome road trip part of their summer plans. Check out these cool road trip posts along with some other SCABL box scores and recaps I am following:

Hey, I know that IG page…I posted about this amazing road trip the other day. The New England Collegiate Baseball League’s Valley Blue Sox took on the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks at legendary Doubleday Field in Cooperstown, NY. Neither the Blue Sox (Holyoke, MA) nor the Sharks (Martha’s Vineyard, MA) call Doubleday Field home, not even remotely close! But the road trip to the field most likely added a trip to the Village of Cooperstown down Main St and over to the famous Baseball Hall of Fame. Wow, now that is an epic road trip.

Here are some other scores from this week’s NECBL game action:

Busy week in the Old North State League. Every night is packed with summer baseball league games all over NC and parts of VA. And it just so happens that I took a road trip myself, to see the Outer Banks Flying Dutchmen take on the Edenton Steamers at First Flight Stadium.

Pretty cool, Tuesday night road trip down to the Outer Banks section of North Carolina! It was a straight shot south, my kind of road trip, hard to screw up. Rachel and I drove straight south from VA Beach into Chesapeake before entering NC in Moyock, driving through towns like Coinjock, Jarvisburg and Currituck before crossing the Wright Memorial Bridge and finishing up in Kitty Hawk, then Kill Devil Hills, NC. Great fan base there at OBX Flying Dutchmen’s First Flight Field/Stadium. Tons of kids on hand, getting autographs from players, sprinting after foul balls – kids stuff. Awesome time at the park, driving down, and a smooth ride home! A successful baseball road trip indeed.

According to several Cape Cod Baseball League IG pages, it is Fenway Day. According to their official CCBL website, “One day stands out among the rest when it comes to scouting: the league-wide Fenway Park workout. Taking place on Wednesday, June 18 this year, each active player on a Cape League roster travels to Fenway Park in Boston to perform in front of scouts from all 30 MLB organizations.” See some of the CCBL teams posting below:

Quick pivot from SCABL news to Roby news. Memphis Cardinals starting Pitcher, Tekoah Roby, pitched against the Norfolk Tides last night. No relation, it’s just cool seeing a Roby name on a professional baseball league jersey!

One game posted in the Futures League last night. Several games postponed this week but this one got in. New Britain Bees sting the Vermont Lake Monsters 6-1. Despite the loss, Vermont attendance numbers jump out at you – 4000 to attend a game there at Centennial Field. Awesome to see that kind of community support.

Another busy night in the Coastal Plain League with 6 games in the books. With high heat and high humidity in the forecast this week here the VA, NC area, there is sure to be tons of great SCABL action in the CPL this week!

NABA Richmond social media team, you continue to impress me with your IG page and posts. Love the creativity and the game recaps and the graphic artistry! Excellent, A+, Top Marks!

Checking in with America’s most watched summer collegiate baseball league team – the Madison Mallards. They draw huge numbers at the home field, The Duck Pond, and are putting on quite a display of awesomeness in the Northwoods League this summer. Another night, Another W for the Mallards.

Batavia Muckdogs of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League drop a tough one to the Auburn Doubledays, 12-4. But don’t fret fans because $1 Hot Dog day is coming up today, June 18th at Dwyer Stadium. Get your hot dogs, get your hot dogs heeeeeerrrreee! Game time is 6:30 and the Muckdogs take on the Newark Pilots.

And as always, if you have a summer baseball team photo, a schedule update, maybe a road trip update, send it my way and I will post it. SCABL is in full swing and there are so many great stories to share and tell.
