SCABL Box Scores And Game Recaps – May 29, 2025

Box scores and recaps for May 29th:

Futures League – New England based, 6 team Summer Collegiate Baseball League, founded in 2011

The Peninsula Pilots kicked off their 2025 summer collegiate baseball season last night at home vs the Greenville Gnomes at historic War Memorial Stadium, Hampton, VA. The Peninsula Pilots play in the Coastal Plain League, which “currently features 15 teams across Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Many of the CPL teams play in former minor league stadiums and cities, as well as in newly constructed stadiums that meet Class A standards. Teams in the CPL play in front of large crowds of passionate fans throughout the summer months,” according to their about me page.

Box score from last nights Madison Mallards vs Fond du Lac Dock Spiders. That is not a misprint highlighted – almost 6K attended a summer baseball league game!

The Madison Mallards play in the Northwoods League. Per their about us page, “The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players. It is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 26 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 370 NWL Alumni have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time All-Star and 2016 Roberto Clemente Award winner Curtis Granderson, three-time Cy Young Award winner and World Series Champion Max Scherzer (TEX), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist and Brandon Crawford (SFG) and World Series Champion Chris Sale (ATL). As well as 2019 Rookie of the Year and 2019/2021 Home Run Derby Champion Pete Alonso (NYM) and 2021 All-Star, MLB Gold Glove winner and 2019 Second Team All-MLB shortstop Marcus Semien (TEX) . Nearly 2,400 NWL players have been drafted by MLB organizations.”
