A To Z Challenge 5 – My Baseball Card Collection Of Future Stars

Tonight, we are back with another A to Z Challenge and back to a familiar theme – baseball. Let’s be honest, baseball cards are so awesome, aren’t they. Each one is a tiny cardboard story of a player, with his photo, his stats, his hometown, and maybe something you didn’t know about him. I have a baseball card collection that monetarily is worth like $18 but soulfully speaking is absolutely priceless. So tonight, I am dedicating the next A to Z Challenge to my collection of MLB (Major League Baseball) Future Stars of the Game. Some made it, some stayed in the Majors for a long time, others, well, did not make it for that 2nd cup of coffee. How many of these baseball players can you remember? For the A to Z list tonight, I will be listing the player, his position, his Future Stars team, and the year of the baseball card. Are you ready? Cool, let’s get right to the A to Z Challenge and my list of future stars…

A – Brian Allard, RHP, Texas Rangers, 1980

B – Bob Brenly, C, San Francisco Giants, 1982

C – Robinson Cano, 2B, New York Yankees, 2005

P – Sam Perlozzo, 2B, Minnesota Twins, 1978

Q – Shocking that I have no Q’s in my future star collection

R – Hanley Ramirez, SS, Boston Red Sox, 2005

S – Craig Stimac, C-3B, San Diego Padres, 1981

T – Roy Thomas, RHP, Houston Astros, 1978

U – Sadly and shocking news – no “U” in my collection of future stars

V – Fernando Valenzuela, LHP, Los Angeles Dodgers, 1981

W – Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee Brewers, 2005

Y – Ned Yost, C Milwaukee Brewers, 1981

Z – Greg Biercevicz, RHP, Seattle Mariners, 1981 (okay this one was a stretch, but the dude does have a Z in his last name!)

Hey, that can’t all be all stars, hall of famers, Cy Young Award winners, and MVP winners. But they all have their very own baseball card and that says a heck of lot there. They were drafted by a Major League organization or signed as a free agent and got to the point scouting wise where they were “hot stuff” future stars. Some fizzled out, others prospered for years in the minors, still others had awesome MLB careers. And I am so psyched to have such an awesome collection, nearly filling in the alphabet from A to Z of Future Stars of Major League Baseball. How did you do on your list? Did you come up with a card for “U” and “Q” players? I can name a few off the top of my head, but alas, do not have their baseball cards. So, if you have the goods, let’s see the cards!!!
