On a recent trip to Milwaukee’s American Family Field, I parked next to a beautiful baseball park with a major connection to Milwaukee baseball history. Helfaer Field, located literally walking distance from American Family Field, is a gorgeous baseball complex that looks almost as enticing as its big brother standing in its shadow. The field’s namesake, Evan Helfaer, was a part owner of the Brewers when they arrived in Milwaukee.

Take a look at the layout and ask yourself, have you seen a nicer setup?

One thing I noticed around the grounds were cartoon images of “gangsters” and I was curious about why this was so. One internet site mentioned that this was a possible burial site for Jimmy Hoffa. Another mentions other mob related individuals may have met their final resting places in and around this stadium or close by. I couldn’t get any confirmation on this, so let’s just leave it alone there tough guy!!!

As with many baseball parks in December, probably even more in Wisconsin, Helfaer Park was closed to walk around inside. However, I did get some nice photos of the perimeter of the park as well as inside the stadium from the grassy areas surrounding the field. What an amazing complex and I’m sure a very busy place come baseball season.

Both Helfaer and American Family Field were so impressive. I loved reading all of the tributes, plaques, and memorials throughout this baseball stadium complex. Helfaer sits within walking distance of the entrance to the Brewers home field and is just a beautiful baseball park. What an amazing Milwaukee baseball experience, even with the wind chills dropping into single digits.
