When you think of Niagara Falls, what comes to mind? The mist, the waterfalls, the majestic natural beauty? If you have had the pleasure of visiting Niagara Falls, NY, and witnessed the awesomeness of nature that is the Falls, you should consider yourself lucky indeed. I know because I’ve seen them in person and they are tremendous. Well, on my recent trip to Buffalo, I headed up to visit the City of Niagara Falls but didn’t quite make it to The Falls. I stopped my travels at a famous baseball park, Sal Maglie Stadium.

From the parking lot area, Sal Maglie Stadium looked like a wonderful, classic old baseball park. The exterior design sort of gave it away with the brick construction and visible bleacher stadium seating. As I approached the front gate entrance, I noticed some volunteers painting and prepping the grounds. A woman approached me, and I told her about my baseball journey blog, and she graciously invited me in to see the stadium. Her name was Whitney, and she serves as the Director of Operations for the Niagara Falls Americans, a summer collegiate baseball team who plays in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League.

Whitney was awesome. She mentioned the new field surface and how it gave Sal Maglie a more modern look. The Niagara Falls Americans were due to have their Opening Night game that upcoming Friday, so Whitney and other local volunteers were busy getting Sal Maglie ready. I thanked her for the field invite and walked the perimeter of the bleachers from left field to right field, stopping from time to time to take photos. What an incredible baseball field! Such a cool blend of new and old baseball features.

The baseball stadium itself was located next to a large street sign that read “Little Italy.” If you are familiar with that area of Western NY, Sal Maglie Stadium, Little Italy, Hyde Park Blvd are less than 3 miles from the majestic Niagara Falls most tourists associate Niagara Falls with. The city of Niagara Falls is really interesting and picturesque, and a must stop in if you are in Western NY.

So, if you have had your time with the mist and majesty of the Falls of Niagara Falls fame, stop in and catch a game at Sal Maglie Stadium. The Niagara Falls Americans, a summer collegiate baseball team who play in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League, call Sal Maglie Stadium their home field. These summer collegiate games are very competitive and feature top collegiate talent not only from Western NY but nationwide. Huge thanks to Whitney and her volunteers for being great hosts and letting me tour Sal Maglie from left field to right field and all spots in between. What an amazing Niagara Falls Baseball Experience there at Sal Maglie Stadium!!!
