I enthusiastically applaud Major League Baseball for its newest promotional series called Spring Breakout 2024. What is Spring Breakout and who will be playing? Good question. 30 Major League teams have submitted rosters filled with top minor league prospects – hitters, pitchers, catchers, fielders – essentially the future of their organizations. These rosters will play a series of games against other similar rosters to showcase what Major League Baseball will look like in the near future. A future that could be 6 weeks from now or several years down the road. Spring Breakout 2024 gives the fans a chance to see top prospects, who will shortly be sent out to Altoona and Jacksonville and Durham and Beloit and Norfolk, etc. to their minor league assignments, play right now, this month, in fact next week at Spring Training sites in Florida and Arizona. Great concept, right? I thought so.
So, the rosters are now live and you can go to MLB Spring Breakout 2024 to view your team’s roster for this year’s games. Wait, you call yourself a baseball fan and haven’t checked out who will be representing your favorite team in the Spring Breakout 2024 series yet??? Shame on you. Well, consider this a warning but next time I will have to consider stripping you of your fan status. All joking aside, here are some major league prospects I will be keeping an eye for the Spring Breakout 2024 series of games, and with a little luck and timing, be able to see live in action out in Arizona (heading out there again next week.)
Let’s start at the top for me – Rhode Island based players playing professional baseball who are slated to play for their organization’s Spring Breakout 2024 roster:

Texas Rangers Pitcher Jack Leiter. He was dominant at Vanderbilt University, striking out nearly everyone who faced him. Will he ever reach those heights at the Major League level? I’m optimistic and rooting for him.
I have been watching and reading about and cheering for Florida Marlins selection Thomas White for what seems like forever. A New England kid who was a national prospect since his freshman year in HS. Can’t wait to see him make in the show someday.
Having recently visited the mecca of HS baseball in Georgia (Parkview HS) and reading about the New York Mets selection Colin Houck, I thought it fitting to root for him this Spring Breakout.
Ok, first off, no relation that I know of. Tekoah Roby, St. Louis Cardinals selection is a big time rising star in their organization after coming over from the Texas Rangers last summer. Gotta watch and hope for a Roby in the show!!!
Ok, for the Boston Red Sox, I am so excited to see the incredible roster selection for the Spring Breakout games. Marcelo Mayer, Kyle Teel, Roman Anthony, Nick Yorke, Zach Penrod, David Sandlin, Richard Fitts – all will be up in Boston in a few years, maybe a few months depending on their development. Ceddanne Rafaela is a major league ready player right now in my opinion – at multiple positions he is a lock gold glover, right this instant. But the player I most interested in watching is Blaze Jordan. Like Jack Leiter, I have been waiting to see if the potential will meet the reality. So much hype as an amateur, we shall see if Blaze Jordan can make it to the show. Would be a great story for Boston Red Sox fans, and like Leiter, I remain optimistic.
So, who else will be there? Oh my goodness, there is going to be so much talent on display next week for this Spring Breakout 2024 series. You do not want to miss an inning of it. I am really looking forward to seeing at least one game live while out in the Phoenix area next week, perhaps sneak in a second game time permitting. Again, fantastic concept by Major League Baseball, great stuff!!!
