Sacrifice Present #8 – Name This Rhode Island Baseball Coach

First things first, Sacrifice Present #7, courtesy of Axis Bats, goes to Jason Peters. Jason, along with close to 100 responders (we have a lot of RIBI fans apparently!) correctly identified the Rhode Island Baseball Institute as the indoor baseball facility. Congrats Jason. And now let’s giveaway another Sacrifice Present to one lucky person who can correctly identify this Rhode Island Baseball Coach…

  • Grew up playing organized sports in Smithfield, RI
  • Played travel ball for the RI Thunder
  • Graduated from La Salle Academy
  • Was named Rhode Island Gatorade Player of the Year in 2019-2020
  • Signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of North Carolina
  • I first learned about this incredible student athlete through a video that was posted on the Upper Deck Twitter page. The video showcased a left handed hitter destroying baseballs at a ridiculous pace – 92 mph HEAT!!!
  • Since my mother’s family is from Wareham, MA and having been to Wareham’s Spillane Field since I was old enough to walk, I have always had a special interest in the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League. I follow their team every summer and go to as many games as I can, stopping by my mother’s house on Sawyer Street where she grew up. With the 2021 CCBL season back on track after a year hiatus, I was active on Wareham’s website for any and all information about their summer 2021 season. On their social media pages, I read about this Rhode Island student athlete who would be a coaching intern with Wareham that summer and I decided to reach out to find out more this amazing opportunity. Here is my interview from 2021 – Rhode Islander To Spend Summer on Cape As A Coach For Wareham Gateman CCBL
  • Even more interesting than my article, this Rhode Island Baseball Coach kept a daily diary of her coaching activities on Twitter, showcasing the batting practices she threw, helping out with player development in the video room, and being an important part of a baseball coaching staff that featured some of the top collegiate baseball minds in the country
  • Has made a name for herself on the national scene as a player development coach, having worked with the Texas Rangers organization and is one of the featured names on this impressive list of rising star coaches in Major League Baseball
  • In my opinion, one of the best examples of hard work, determination, and doing things the right way – every Rhode Island Student Athlete, no matter the sport, should learn from this Rhode Islander’s example. She wrote to me that Wareham was the only team to respond to her request for internship back in the Spring of 2021. One response, one opportunity was all she needed and she has been moving full speed on her goals and dreams non-stop since then.

Think you know the answer? Great, message me by filling out this contact form and check back here tomorrow to find out if you won a Sacrifice Present courtesy of Axis Bats. Find more about this giveaway at the bottom of this article. And good luck!!!
