Every August or thereabout, one Rhode Island Little League 12U team gets to represent Rhode Island in the Eastern Regionals in Bristol, CT. The Eastern Regionals is the last tournament hurdle before the BIG ONE – the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. One team who was selected by their local little league and is comprised of their league’s best players. One team who practiced and practiced for weeks prior to their District Tournament. One team who fought their way through their District Tournament and came out as the number 1 team in the District. One team who bested the 3 other District Tournament Champions to be crowned Rhode Island State Champion. And that one team, who practiced and pitch strategized and won District 4 and then won 2 games in a row to win the State Title and will represent Rhode Island in the Eastern Regionals in Bristol, CT for this August, for 2022 is Cumberland Youth Baseball Softball League.

I was reading on social media that the team, its supporters, and CYBSL will be hosting a Pep Rally for the 12U All Stars, now officially known for the foreseeable future as “Team Rhode Island.” The pep rally will take place at Cumberland’s Garvin Memorial Field, home to the CYBSL regular season games, and will start after the team’s last at home practice according to their press release on Facebook. Start time looks like around 9pm. Here is a snapshot of the press release from CYBSL’s Facebook page:

And for those of you on GameChanger, you can follow Team Rhode Island’s games, updates, and more by searching for “Rhode Island – Cumberland LL” and become a fan. Like I did!!!

Good luck to all the Cumberland players, coaches, and families in Bristol, CT starting this Saturday, August 6th. First up is an old Eastern Regionals rival for Team Rhode Island – Fairfield, CT. The state of Rhode Island is behind you all and I wish you the very best on this very important step towards the ultimate goal – a trip to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. How exciting!!!
